He was waiting for me at the shelter, knowing I’m there on Wednesday mornings. “Pastor Pam,” he exclaimed, “God loves me.” “I know, I said.” “No Pam,” he continues, “God really loves me, I didn’t know it before, but God really loves me. I thought all my life that God was waiting for me to screw up so that He could punish me, but now I know, God loves me no matter what.” With tears in my eyes, I hugged him. My heart was both broken and rejoicing. I’m overjoyed that he realized that God is Love, and Love does not look to catch you doing something bad, and punish you. Love comforts, guides, supports, watches out, accepts and loves you unconditionally. My heart breaks for my friend and all others who have been taught to believe in a judgmental, wrath-filled, and punishing God. What a terrible burden to bear. What damage this does to the soul. If you are reading this please know that no matter what you’ve done, what has happened to you, what circumstances have led you down a dark path or into a dark place, God’s Grace and Mercy and Forgiveness are yours, freely given to all, even if you don’t think you deserve it. God loves everyone, unconditionally.
Here Now Ministries: On April 28th of this year we had our first Outdoor Ministry Service. This service was wrapped in the words of Romans 8:39, “Nothing can separate us from God’s love.” We recognized that we all have a divine spark within, noting that wherever, whenever that is, we are God is with us. We came together to worship, or to explore our faith, or to sing good music, or to hear words of comfort and care, or to share in communion, or to have a snack, or simply as curious seekers, looking for something larger than ourselves. We came together and were washed in the unconditional love of the Divine.
Our next service will be on May 19th at 4:00 on the front lawn of the Baptist Church in downtown Hyannis. Pray for our ministry, pray for all those whom we serve, and know that God Loves You ….no matter what!
Peace & Blessings!
